SERVICES OFFERED

A variety of supportive services are available to children with developmental disabilities, as well as to those who may be experiencing psychological and/or social adjustment challenges in their lives. Depending on each child’s unique situation, these services are individually tailored to fit their needs, and the needs of their family.

Please feel free to call our office (818) 994-9400 so we can explain to you the various options available for obtaining services for your child. Often times this process can feel overwhelming; our goal is to make this as easy for you as possible.

In-Home, Intensive Behavior Intervention:
This service, often referred to as discrete trial training, or intensive applied behavior analysis, involves consultants coming to the home to work with each child one-on-one. Treatment programs are designed to help children develop and improve language and communication skills, form social relationships, and interact appropriately in their natural environment. The specific number of treatment hours depends on the age of the child and other services they receive each day.

Parent/Family Education:
This service involves teaching parents and caregivers supportive behavioral strategies for use in the home and community. Parents learn how to effectively manage challenging behaviors (i.e., not listening when asked to do something, completing chores and homework in a timely manner), and to maintain each child’s progress. Practical and sensible approaches are taught so that relationships with children of all ages are less stressful and more rewarding.

School Services:
The Conway Agency is certified as a non-public agency by the California Department of Education. We provide behavioral support services for children who need a one-on-one aide in the classroom. Our goal is to help children follow naturalistic cues from teachers and peers. In this capacity, we work as part of the IEP team, and collaborate with parents and school staff to provide the most comprehensive treatment program possible.

Children’s Social Skills Groups:
Children are placed in groups of 4 to 6, based on their chronological age and social skills functioning. Using ABA techniques, play facilitation, and language scaffolding, activities and instruction are designed to help the children acquire skills in different social settings. Parents meet for support and information.

Adaptive Skills Training Program:
The purpose of this service is to teach, remedy, and/or enhance everyday skills in individuals with special needs. Our curriculum, which is customized for each individual, includes instruction in basic attention skills, self-help skills, play skills, self-care skills, and home-care skills. This service is provided in the home and community.

Informational Support Groups:
We offer informational support groups to parents and siblings of our clients, to share information and learn more about living with a child who has special needs.

Psychological Assessment:
We offer full battery diagnostic assessments for the purpose of diagnostic evaluation, treatment recommendations, and tracking developmental progress over time, for children up to 18 years of age.
